Carrera Digital 124 Gulf-Porsche 917 presentation model London Salon 1969 NEW

Carrera Digital 124 Gulf-Porsche 917 presentation model London Salon 1969 NEW. Faithful to the original, on a digital Schöler Striker messing chassis (2mm) with sprung front axle, ready-to-drive slot car of the presentation model of the Gulf Porsche 917 to be auctioned at the London Motor Show 1969 in a 1:24 scale. The front part was painted green and labeled with the numbers 917. The homologated by the FIA?? 25 vehicles of the 917 were used in both a long-tail, as well as a short-tail version.

The chassis with the number 001 was later used on the occasion of the announcement of the cooperation between Porsche AG and J. First presented at the 1969 London Motor Show in the Gulf colors see photo no. The body of the original 69er Gulf-Porsche 917 in 1:24 scale was created from the Union kit Memorial Collections in 1:20 scale. The body was disassembled in elaborate detail and then rebuilt on the basis of drawings and pictures and with the help of the Fujimi kit of the 917K in 1:24 scale. (see photos 9 and 10).

The floor assembly of the Gulf 917 corresponds to the dimensions of the Fujimi kit, but of course has the openings for the side exhaust pipes. The body is flexibly mounted on the chassis and has been provided with numerous modifications such as movable tailgates (long-tail version), green engine grille, xenon lighting in the front headlights and functioning rear and brake lights (double).

The cockpit is equipped with the original kit parts dashboard, rearview mirror, steering wheel, engine partition, 12-cylinder engine with intake funnels and ignition coils and four exhaust pipes. The Ur-917 can be driven in both the long and the short-rear version. Only that For this purpose, the connection cable for the rear lights has to be changed. The proven Schöler Striker 2mm messing chassis is designed for digital operation and, unlike the Carrera Digital 124 chassis equipped with adhesion magnets, enables realistic driving on digital tracks. The Striker chassis, built as a sidewinder, is complete, completely straight and has aluminum body mounts that are attached to the floor assembly of the body with special adhesive. The steel axes run in four closed ball bearings. The H-part of the chassis moves in aluminum fine bushings. The assembled aluminum wheels are provided with original 917 rim inserts. The rear axle is equipped with extremely finely ground weasel tires, which offer extreme traction without a magnet. An original Carrera Digital 124 motor is installed as the drive, which should ideally be operated with 16-18 volts. The installation of alternative motors is no problem using the other motor bracket supplied. A finished chassis with a comparable construction costs about 150 euros with axles, tires, ball bearings and digital decoder. The Union 1:20 scale Memorial Collections kit, if still available, can only be obtained for a 3-digit amount. The body and chassis of the Gulf Porsche 917 have been completely rebuilt. Upon request, further pictures of the creation of the vehicle can be sent.

The beautiful racing car is designed for good-natured driving behavior. Although it is actually too bad, it can be used on both wooden and Carrera tracks. The 917 only needed 3.6 seconds for the in-house 12 m long Carrera test track.

With the 917, which is packaged in the original Carrera Digital 124 Box, copies of Porsche factory pictures about the production and the homologation document and the May 2019 edition of Motor Classic are sent with a special report on the 001-917 (see last photo) delivered. 2 The Gulf-Porsche 917K shown in photo no. The photo is only for size comparison. 3 The vehicle offered here was not produced by Carrera (Carrera Toys GmbH). The 917 Porsche has been completely rebuilt on a new digital Schöler Striker chassis. It has at most the slightest signs of wear, has been tested and is fully functional. The original packaging comes from another Carrera Digital racing car and may show signs of wear. At the time of dispatch, the item is as listed in the item description and shown in the pictures. The Porsche 917 is new and without any signs of use. The slotcar is in best condition (see photos) and checked in all functions. The Porsche is delivered in an original Carrera packaging with a copy of the 1969 homologation certificate and various company photos of the assembly and the vehicle presentation.
